London, UK – June 22, 2023 – Vortex Biotech Holdings, a burgeoning leader in the oncology liquid biopsy market, today announced the successful completion of a new £3.2 million investment round. The fundraising, spearheaded by deep tech and life sciences VC investor EMV Capital (EMVC), will accelerate Vortex’s mission to revolutionise cancer treatment and monitoring.

Vortex’s proprietary “no touch” microfluidic chip technology enables the capture and isolation of intact, label-free, and pure Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs) from blood samples. These CTCs offer critical insights into metastasis, treatment resistance, and disease recurrence, paving the way for more informed therapeutic decisions and personalised medicine.

EMV Capital, a portfolio company of NetScientific Plc, expertly structured the investment, combining EIS, family office, and institutional funding. NetScientific also converted a £0.4 million loan into equity, increasing its total holding in Vortex to 24.98%.

Paul Jones, CEO of Vortex, expressed his excitement for the new investment, stating it will “accelerate our plans for a breakthrough in how CTCs can be used to inform oncology treatment and monitoring.” Dr. Ilian Iliev, MD of EMV Capital and CEO of NetScientific, highlighted the transaction as a testament to their ability to combine capital-light investment with value creation support, positioning Vortex for significant growth in the multi-billion dollar oncology liquid biopsy market.
