London, UK – August 16, 2022 – Vortex Biotech Holdings, a leading oncology liquid biopsy company and a portfolio company of NetScientific PLC, today announced the appointment of Paul Jones as its new Chief Executive Officer. Jones will spearhead Vortex’s growth strategy, aiming to position its high-quality Circulating Tumour Cell (CTC) capture technology as an industry-leading platform.

Vortex operates at the intersection of the rapidly growing liquid biopsy, cell analytics, and oncology markets, with the global liquid biopsy market projected to reach USD 26.2 billion by 2030. Vortex’s core technology enables the capture and isolation of high-quality CTCs from blood samples, crucial for accelerating the translation of research insights into clinical practice and supporting an affordable population health agenda.

Jones brings extensive experience from his previous role as Head of Population Genomics at Illumina, Inc., and as the founding CEO of Genomic Enterprises, responsible for commercial aspects of the 100,000 Genomes Project. His leadership is expected to drive Vortex’s multi-phased growth strategy, encompassing product sales, lab services for cancer research, and ultimately, laboratory-developed tests for clinical practice.

This appointment follows NetScientific PLC’s acquisition of a 30% stake in Vortex Biotech Holdings, positioning the Group to capitalise on the substantial potential of this innovative technology. Vortex’s VTX-1 platform is already being utilised in leading university and research centres globally, and the company is seeing growing interest from pharma and biotech clients.
